Property Description

A rare opportunity to restore and reimagine one of Huntington Lake's most historic and iconic lakefront resort properties.Cedar Crest Resort traces its roots back to 1878, with the original resort compound developed in 1922. Today, the property offers a remarkable 1920s-era lakeside setting with a rich and colorful past, including local lore that it once served as a private Hollywood retreat during the Prohibition era. Set along the highly desirable north shore of Huntington Lake, Cedar Crest Resort is widely regarded as one of the premier lakefront resort locations in California. The property's forested setting, lakefront presence, historic structures, and existing commercial resort infrastructure create an extraordinary redevelopment and restoration opportunity. Cedar Crest Resort operates under a U.S.D.A. Forest Service, Sierra National Forest Commercial Use 133 Permit covering approximately 14.3 acres. The permit allows for the construction, operation, and maintenance of a resort/marina, including food service, retail sales, boat docks, boat rentals, and ancillary resort facilities. The land is owned by the Sierra National Forest, while the resort owners own the improvements and the permit rights to operate. Existing improvements include the original approximately 3,000 sq. ft. lodge with commercial kitchen, restaurant seating for approximately 50, small bar, grocery store, on-site and off-site liquor sales license, 14 lakefront/lakeview rental cabins, the original 1922 owner's cabin, chef's cabin, staff bunk cabins, men's and women's shower/restroom building, laundry building, A-frame shop, tool sheds, and additional support structures. In total, there is approximately 11,500 square feet under roof. The property also includes 18 RV sites and 12 camping rental sites in need of redevelopment, along with a marina designation permit for boat docks and boat rentals. Many of the original 1922 structures remain in place and are ready for thoughtful restoration, renovation, and new wood decks to help preserve the timeless lakeside character of the resort. Cedar Crest Resort is a truly distinctive, once-in-a-lifetime, multigenerational redevelopment opportunity. With its unmatched Huntington Lake location, historic charm, existing infrastructure, and permitted resort/marina use, the property is ideally positioned for a buyer with vision to restore, revive, and preserve. Appointment required, do not go direct.
